Surrey Healthy Schools - GOLD for de Stafford in the School Games Mark!
We are delighted to announce that we, de Stafford School, have successfully maintained the development of a Surrey Healthy Schools approach for the second year running!
Feedback from Active Surrey highlighted our passionate and positive engagement in physical activity and informed the Quality Assurance group of some of our successes including being a GOLD School Games Mark School and supporting transition events with our local primary schools. School Nursing also spoke of our proactive engagement with the school nursing team and use of referrals to support the needs of young people where appropriate.
The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
With so many young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.
Congratulations to everyone at de Stafford School for its hard work and dedication to student health and wellbeing. A huge well done for this achievement! A big thank you to Mrs Hughes and the wider team for their hard work and dedication to achieve this accolade.
We look forward to applying once again in 2026!
