Year 11 Information Evening - 14 Oct 2020
Dear Parent/Carer
Under normal circumstances we would have loved to invite you into the school for the Year 11 Information Evening, to talk you through your child's final year in their GCSE journey in person. We have instead put together two video presentations which you will find below. The videos should autoplay in the correct order, but should you wish to select from the list, please hover at the top left of the presentation screen and click on the drop down arrow.
It is worth noting that, since this video was recorded, there was a Government announcement about GCSE exams which you may have seen. This currently doesn’t change our overall plans or the message in our videos. The key points are:
- The summer exam series will start on 7 June and end on 2 July for almost all AS and A levels and GCSEs (one Maths and one English GCSE exam will be held just before the May half-term).
- GCSE results day is Friday 27 August for GCSEs so students will start the following academic year as normal.
- No further subject-level changes to exams and assessments will be made for GCSEs.
- It is expected that for the majority of vocational and technical qualifications (e.g. BTECs) that are taken alongside or instead of GCSEs, awarding organisations will look to align timetables with 2021 exams.
We hope you find these just as useful and informative and encourage you to contact us should you have any questions. We look forward to meeting, virtually, as many of you as possible next week at the Year 11 Parents’ Evening.
Yours faithfully,
Mr J Place, Head of School
