Duke of Edinburgh - Silver Practice Walk
What a fantastic weekend our participants have had completing their practice walk in preparation for the Silver Qualifying Expedition.
Over the two days, students demonstrated incredible resilience. While not all groups were as successful as we had hoped on the first day, they listened carefully to feedback from the Duke of Edinburgh team, took it on board, and went on to have an extremely successful second day.
Our participants showed brilliant camp craft skills, quickly and efficiently setting up their tents and evening areas. They also enjoyed two fantastic evenings playing games together as a whole group, further strengthening teamwork and friendships. Just as importantly, the group continued to build on the genuine relationships they have formed throughout their DofE journey. It was fantastic to see how consistently students looked out for one another, offering support, encouragement, and kindness across all groups. Whether navigating challenges on the walk or supporting each other at camp, their teamwork and care for one another was a real strength and reflected the values at the heart of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
I am beyond proud of what you have all achieved, especially as this has been our first Silver Award in many years. Now it’s time to keep practising those navigation skills as we prepare to head to the New Forest for the final part of your DofE journey at de Stafford.
We are extremely proud of everything you have achieved so far and cannot wait to see what you accomplish next.
