We look forward to welcoming the parents and carers of our Year 10 students from 4:30pm today

Pupils make ‘strong progress’ at our school, we have ‘well-trained teachers and a caring ethos’ according to our recent Ofsted report. There are plenty of other reasons why we are good - read them in our latest report

We are delighted to announce we are a ‘good’ school but don’t take our word for it, read our latest Ofsted report here

Due to the overnight snowfall we have taken the decision to operate a late start to the school day today (Friday). School will open at 9:30am whereby students should attend SAM time. They should be in full school uniform but may wear footwear more appropriate for the conditions.

We are able to open at the normal start time of 8:30am.

We are able to open at normal time this morning but please exercise great care if driving through the school car park. Students should arrive in normal school uniform but may wear footwear appropriate to the icy conditions.

de Stafford retains its 'Good' Ofsted status

Ofsted Good GP ColourOfsted Inspectors recently visited de Stafford for a one-day, focused review of the school. We are delighted to report that, as a result of this visit, Ofsted have confirmed that we continue to offer a good and well-rounded education.

I would like to thank our parents and carers for their support during the inspection process. There was a tremendous response to Parent View, the online survey, from over 180 families and the overwhelmingly positive responses were acknowledged by the Ofsted team, particularly the fact that 94% would recommend us to other parents.

It was pleasing that the inspectors very quickly picked up on the culture and ethos of the school during their visit. The report rightly highlights our strong safeguarding culture, ensuring students feel safe and well looked after when they attend de Stafford.

The Ofsted team praised the atmosphere permeating the school: "Lessons are calm and purposeful.  Pupils’ behave well and respond positively to teachers’ instructions…. pupils help each other and readily discuss how to complete tasks and develop their understanding. As a result, pupils learn well across a range of subjects.”

We have placed a significant emphasis over the past year on the importance of good attendance and the impact that this has on student progress and achievement. Ofsted recognised our work in this area, “Leaders have resolutely planned strategies to improve pupils’ attendance”, but we are conscious that this is an area that still needs further improvement.

I am delighted that strong governance was recognised as a significant factor in driving forward school improvement: “Governors have an astute understanding of their roles…they regularly challenge leaders about the effectiveness of their actions, particularly relating to the improvement of pupils’ outcomes.” I would like to place on record my thanks and gratitude to members of the governing body, both past and present, who undertake this voluntary role with such diligence and rigour.

We are naturally pleased with the report but will be relentless in our commitment to continue to improve the school. We look forward to building upon the strong foundation noted by Ofsted and, in doing so, ensure that the school continues to go from strength to strength in the future.
