All students are given an attainment grade twice within a school year and an effort grade three times within a school year.
At key stage 3 attainment is graded using National Curriculum levels which are sub divided into a, b and c with a being the highest. Over the key stage each student would be expected to make 2 full levels progress, which is given as a target grade for all students. For example, a student entering the school on Level 5a would expect to reach Level 7a by the end of key stage 3.
At key stage 4 attainment is graded using the examination criteria, usually GCSE grades. Each student will have target grade per subject. Reports will show both current attainment and their target grade.
Effort grades are awarded as follows:
- Outstanding effort
- Good effort
- Unacceptable effort
- No effort at all
The above data is distributed as described on the school calendar. A full written report is produced for all students, normally towards the end of the summer term.
