Admissions Policy

 

 

Students will be admitted at age 11 without reference to ability or aptitude.

 

The number of intended admissions for the year commencing 1 September 2007 will be 150, which is the School ’ s agreed admission number. The School will operate an equal preference system.

 

Over-subscription:

 

Where applications for admission exceed the number of places available, the following criteria will be applied, in the order set out below, to decide which student to admit:­

 

1 . Looked after children

 

2 . Exceptional circumstances making de Stafford a more appropriate mainstream school than any other

 

3. Sibling rule

 

4. The Surrey County Council system for measurement proximity to the School will be used as a selection criteria

 

General:

 

The School will agree any changes to its admissions arrangements with the School Organisation Committee for Surrey. It will establish arrangements for appeals against non-admissions. Details of admissions and appeals arrangements will be published each year.

 

Admissions procedure:

 

Students admitted during the year, or to year groups other than Year 7 will normally only be admitted after reference to a member of the senior management team who will take such action as seems appropriate.

 

The PAN for each year group for the year beginning September 2007 will be as follows: Year 7 (150), Year 8 (150), Year 9 (150), Year 10 (150) Year 11 (168) and applications for admission where the number of students would exceed those numbers may only be dealt with by the Headteacher after reference to the Chairman of the Board of Governors who may decide to admit the student or to refer the admission to the Admissions Committee.
